PPDSI Educational Workshop

PPDSI and IAPD Join Forces for “Teach the Teachers” Educational Workshop to Advance Pediatric Dental Education

The Philippine Pediatric Dental Society (PPDSI), in collaboration with the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry (IAPD), will conduct the “Teach the Teachers” Educational Workshop, a faculty development seminar designed to strengthen pediatric dental education and enhance teaching competencies among dental educators.

Scheduled on April 25–26, 2026, the two-day workshop will be held at the Centennial Hall and Restorative Dentistry Laboratory, College of Dentistry, University of the Philippines Manila.

The program aims to empower dental educators through evidence-based teaching strategies, curriculum development approaches, and innovative methods to improve the training of future pediatric dental professionals. The initiative reflects the growing importance of faculty development in maintaining excellence in dental education and ensuring that educators are equipped with effective tools to facilitate clinical and academic learning.

The workshop will feature distinguished international facilitators from IAPD:

  • Anna Maria Vierrou – IAPD Secretary General
  • Soni Stephen – IAPD President
  • Marina Papachroni – IAPD Representative for National-Member Societies

Through the collaboration between PPDSI and IAPD, the event highlights the commitment of both organizations to advancing pediatric dentistry through continuous professional development, international collaboration, and academic excellence.

The “Teach the Teachers” workshop is expected to provide participants with opportunities to exchange educational experiences, discuss challenges in pediatric dental training, and develop strategies that can be applied within dental schools and clinical teaching environments.

This faculty development initiative reinforces the vital role of educators in shaping competent, compassionate, and evidence-driven pediatric dental practitioners who will continue to improve oral healthcare outcomes for children.

Title: Updates on the Safe and Effective Use of Ibuprofen

Ibuprofen is a safe and effective anti-inflammatory drug to relieve pain and fever in children. Evidence has shown that as an oral analgesic, together with other NSAIDs, it is more effective than opioid in reducing dental pain. It is therefore recommended as first line therapy for acute pain management.
